Day Before Moving Preparation Tips
The Day Before Moving is the key to make a perfect removal, have everything read for the big removal day!
The key to a peacefull removal is to have everything sorted out before the removal day, if you organize yourself and follow this steps, you'll sure have peace of mind when moving.
-Defrost the fridge and freezer.
-Label or colour code all the boxes and carpets with the room you want them put in. Mark boxes with any fragile items, so the removal firm will know to take special care.
-Pack a bag to keep with you on moving day with the essentials - light bulbs, torch, fuses, loo roll, candles, matches, toiletries, underwear, cash, phone charger and tools.
-Point out to the packers any extra-fragile items needing special attention. Mark appropriately any items you do not want packed or moved, as well as cartons you will want first when the van arrives at destination. -If you are doing your own packing, make sure everything is ready to go before moving day. Upon arrival, the van operator will check to see if boxes have been properly packed.
-Collect things you definitely want packed together, such as children's toys, and place in separate groups.
-Unplug all electronic appliances 24 hours in advance of a move, except plasma televisions, so that they will be at room temperature on moving day. This includes home computers, stereos, and audio/video equipment. Ask your agent for a copy of our "If There's a Home Computer in Your Move... " booklet.
